PlayStation VR controllers

Dualshock 4
The standard Dualshock 4 controller is compatible with many PlayStation VR games. It can be tracked by the PlayStation 4 Camera, but not as accurately as the PlayStation Move controllers.

Move Controllers
PlayStation Move controllers were launched in September 2010 as a PlayStation 3 peripheral for use with the PlayStation Eye Camera.

They were re-purposed in 2016 for use as a PlayStation VR controller for use with the PlayStation 4 camera.

PS Move controllers use Bluetooth 2.0.

How to connect Move controllers to PS4

  1. Turn on your PlayStation 4.
  2. Connect the PlayStation Move controller with a mini or micro USB cable, depending on which version you have.
  3. Press the PlayStation logo button. It should now be paired with the PS4.
  4. Optional, remove the USB cable. If your controller is low on battery, you can leave the cable plugged in.

How to reset Move controllers

Hardware Revisions
PlayStation Move controllers received their first hardware version on October 2, 2017, it was announced on the PlayStation Blog Japan. This was their first ever update since their launch in 2010.

The only hardware difference between the new and old controller is that the mini USB port has been replaced with a micro USB port. To match the more modern Dualshock 4 controllers.

The Sony logo also appears to have been changed from silver to black.
